Online Safety Program

TICH aligns to SDG 16 of Peace and Justice Strong Institutions by increasing online safety and strengthening institutional systems in support.

Since 2018 TICH has purposed to build safer online presence for 1000 students in 10 schools of Nairobi slums-Kawangware and Kibera and Kisumu, Nyando and Nyakach Sub-Counties.

To date TICH has certified 6/10 schools as Safe Internet Zoned Schools. The schools with the support of TICH, set up school cyber safety policies and appointed student moral leaders to champion cyber safety programs in and outside schools.

The project spilled over to digital marketing and targeted 30 youth entrepreneurs.

 The project therefore has:

  1. Enabled a minimum of 1000 students to safe internet use
  2. Certified 6/10 schools as Safe Internet Zoned Schools
  3. The certified schools have linked 477 students to TVETs and 12 students to Universities through University/TVET Entry Online Applications.
  4. Linked the 8/30 youth entrepreneurs to markets outside the country.
